TWO South Bucks pensioners have appeared in court charged with being part of a multi-million pound money laundering ring.

Malcolm Brown, 69, of Park Lawn, Farnham Royal, and John Williams, 65, of Tithe Court Farm, Stoke Poges, were at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday in relation to the conspiracy to defraud charges on or around September 1, 2001. It is believed the fraud was in the region of £12m.

The silver-haired defendants appeared alongside Michael Downer, 70, of Bartlow, and John Jones, 61, of North Yorkshire, where they were expected to enter pleas but did not.

The case was adjourned awaiting a decision to see if three separate indictments will be joined together. A trial date of January 3 next year was fixed, with a pre-trial hearing arranged for June 5.

The four men were all allowed bail.
