Man charged over late-night stabbing

BLOCKED OFF: Forensic officers in Mildenhall Road look for evidence after a man was found stabbed.
A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Slough.
Ashley Burnel, 19, of Layburn Crescent, Colnbrook, was charged by detectives on Tuesday in connection with an incident which happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Officers were called to Mildenhall Road, Slough, at around 2.30am after a 21-year-old man was discovered with multiple stab wounds.
The victim was taken to Wexham Park Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Officers were called to the scene at around 2.30am and the road was sealed off until late afternoon on Saturday.
One resident of Midenhall Road, said: “Police were really strict about the whole thing. The road was cornered off for hours, we weren’t even allowed to step past our driveway without the police asking us to go back in.”
Residents of Mildenhall Road and connected slip roads were told to remain in their homes by police officers as the forensic team inspected the area and conducted their investigation.
Another resident of Mildenhall Road, said: “There was someone knocking on the door, I woke up and thought someone was breaking in. I woke up my husband and he went down to have a look.
“When he opened the door there was blood on it, but the man had already gone across the road and collapsed so he called the police.”
