Distraction burglary warnings
POLICE investigating distraction burglaries across Slough and Windsor are warning residents to be on their guard.
The incidents took place between March 13 and Wednesday, on each occasion a man stole money from an elderly resident after offering to carry out property maintenance work for them.
Detectives investigating the nine burglaries, some of which also occurred in Reading and Bracknell, believe that the incidents are linked and are keen to trace a man who they believe may be responsible.
He is white, aged between 30 and 35, about 5ft 7ins and stocky. He wears blue overalls covered with paint marks and sometimes has a moustache or stubble. He may drive a white van with writing on the side.
Police are advising residents to never open their door to a stranger. They are advised to use the intercom system or shout through the door to see who it is.
Residents are also reminded to check identification and to make sure that their homes and back gardens are secure.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
