THE Queen has bought a valuable retail site which is home to a range of stores in Slough, including MacDonald’s.

The Bath Road Retail Park in Slough was purchased by The Crown Estate yesterday (Thursday) from SEGRO for £92m.

Also on the estate are High Street chains including Next, JJB Sports, Mothercare, Argos and a B&Q Warehouse.

The Crown Estate deals with property owned by the Sovereign. It is valued at more than £7billion and owns property and agricultural land across England, Scotland and Wales.

Jim Yates, head of regional and residential portfolio at The Crown Estate, said: “We completed the purchase in just three weeks, sending a clear signal to the market that we are a reliable purchaser to deal with in this difficult market.”

Kevin O’Connor, director of SEGRO’s Slough Trading Estate said: “This is a good move for us. Our operations on the Slough Trading Estate have become significantly more focused – this is important as we look towards the longer term development of the Slough Trading Estate.”
