Dairy bombing recounted on TV
THE petrol bombing of a Muslim run dairy in Dedworth will feature in a Channel Four documentary on Islamaphobia tonight Monday.
The Dispatches programme called ‘It Shouldn’t Happen to a Muslim’ will look at media coverage on muslims and the rise of Islamaphobia since the 7/7 bombings in London.
Medina Dairy in Vale Road found itself self at the centre of violent disturbances led by youths which lasted three nights and culminated in the family business being petrol bombed in October 2006.
The incident attracted widespread media coverage and the nationals were criticised for headlines including ‘Windsor Burns’ and ‘Riots in Windsor’.
The programme, which is set to feature interviews with community members including Rev Louise Brown, will show at 8pm.
The Royal Borough will consider a planning application from Medina Dairy to relax a condition restricting noise levels at Technor House in Shirley Avenue which has been converted into an Islamic Education Centre. The planning committee will review the propsal on Wednesday’s meeting at Windsor Guildhall at 7pm. Twelve letters of objection have been received.
