Golf course saved

CELEBRATIONS can get underway as a council has decided not to sell off a golf course.
Farnham Park Golf Course had been facing the possibility of closure and being sold off to a developer, but at a meeting last night (Tuesday) South Bucks District Council decided to keep the course in its ownership because of the restrictions they would face on any disposal.
A fighting committee had been set up by golfers to lobby the council into keeping the course and a petition featuring 1,000 names was handed to the council at a previous meeting.
Maureen Brooker, of the fighting committee, said: “Thank God for that. It is wonderful, that is what we have been fighting for for six months.”
The council have said efforts will now be focused on improving facilities at the course in Park Road, Stoke Poges.
