POLICE have launched an investigation after a married dad-of-three died in custody.

Habib Ullah, of Arbourfield Close, Slough, suffered breathing problems after he was stopped and search by police officers in High Wycombe. He had been stopped under the Misuse of Drugs Act and officers seized a package which is being forensically analysed.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the death and it’s commissioner Deborah Glass said: “We immediately decided that this investigation would be carried out independently. On behalf of the coroner we will seek to establish exactly what happened and what caused the death.”

The 39-year-old was fondly known as ‘Paapu’ and family and friend have launched the Justice For Habib campaign calling for answers into his death on Thursday July 3.

They will hold a public meeting in High Wycombe today (Friday) to highlight their concerns.

Childhood friend Zia Ullah said: “We are all grieving and just want to know what happened. He was a great guy - very straight forward - and we all miss him.”

Campaigners have set up a group on social networking site Facebook to raise awareness.
