Man's death near busy road not suspicious
By Mike Greenshields
A POLISH man whose body was found on a footpath near the Windsor and Eton relief road died of natural causes.
The death 39-year-old Mariuz Wodo, of College Way, Slough, was initially treated as suspicious when his body was discovered by a passer-by on February 8, but forensic tests later revealed that he died from ill health, an inquest at Windsor Guild Hall heard on Thursday.
Mr Wodo’s body, which was discovered next to a make-shift shelter off the footpath, had to be identified by finger print because he had no family in the UK.
A toxicology test carried out on February 27 revealed that he had a blood alcohol reading of 151mgm per 100ml of blood and a urine reading of 363mgm, suggesting that the blood count would have been substantially higher closer to his death.
A post-mortem examination carried out by pathologist Robert Chapman revealed that Mr Wodo’s body was ill-kept and that he suffered from extensive emphysema, pancreatitis, alcohol-related liver disease and signs of bronchopneumonia.
He concluded that the death was not suspicious, although Mr Wodo had bruising and lacerations on his face and hands, most likely caused by alcohol-induced falls.
Coroner Peter Bedford concluded that Mr Wodo died of natural causes.
