Police were forced to close a lane of the M4 between Slough and Langley junctions this morning after a car crashed into the central reservation.

The Smart car careered into the central barrier around six o'clock, and police took two and a half hours to clear debris from the motorway, causing tailbacks between junctions six and five.

The driver was not injured, and the stretch of motorway is operating as usual.
