THE REBUILDING of St George's Church in Britwell came one step nearer completion this week when the foundation stone was laid.

More than 100 people attended the ceremony at the church in Long Furlong Drive on Monday, including the Bishop of Buckingham, Alan Wilson.

As well as the stone being laid, a time capsule with letters from church members was buried to be dug up in 100 years.

Rev John Chorlton said: "I was really happy with the turnout and it was a wonderful day for the history of our new church.

"The Bishop blessed the stone after it was laid and four teenagers from the church's youth group lent a hand by laying a brick and we all enjoyed a cup of tea afterwards."

The construction which started in June is expected to be completed by March next year.
