A WOMAN has been killed and a man stabbed in Chalvey this morning (Tuesday).

Police were called at 7am after a man in his early twenties was wounded in The Crescent.

He was rushed to Wexham Park Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Investigating officers then visited a home in Ledgers Road where they found a woman in her twenties with serious injuries.

Despite efforts from paramedics to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his twenties has been arrested in connection with both incidents and remains in police custody.

Supt Chris Shead, Local Police Area Commander for Slough, said: “I would like to reassure the local community that a thorough investigation is underway. The full facts of this morning’s incident are currently being established, but we believe that both incidents are linked. A family liaison officer has been appointed and will be providing support to our victim’s family at this very difficult time.

“We have a number of Police Community Support Officers and police officers out in Chalvey providing reassurance.”

Police closed Ledgers Road and The Crescent following the two incidents this morning which caused major traffic tailbacks.

Read Friday’s Observer for the latest update.

This is what happens when you let people into the country with criminal intent. How many times have i driven past that part of ledgers road to see them standing on the corners, this has to stop. No one can put a value on life as it is priceless. But are we going to stand around and let this carry on!!! We need to put a stop to this. This is what happens when you open your doors everyone. We must act now!!!!

Hmmm. The nationality of the man in custody has not been published so either Zahid is jumping to conclusions and presuming the culprit is not British, or Zahid knows more than than has been put in the press so far.

Either way, I'm not convinced people should jump to conclusions and start talking about closing up our borders because of criminal intent.

Former Cllrs Aziz and Khan were in court the other day over alleged electoral fraud but I don't remember Zahid calling for people like them to be stopped at the borders.

Now is the time for thinking about the victims of this crime, not for making wild judgements

i do not know the cllrs you are refering to if they were in for fraud they should be punished. I work on ledgers road it is commen knowledge here who has been killed, lets not beat round the bush and what goes on here. I am a Brit born and bread and i have every right to speak up against people who do things to put the lives of fellow citizens in danger. There is an old saying "Play with fire and you will get burnt" I just like you feel for their familes, but call me selfish but my family comes first. You need to wake up and start acting rather then trying to be politically correct!

I also live a street away, i agree with both zahid and samantha. The situation in Chalvey has been spiralling out of control for more than 5 years this has been raised with the Police, the council, councillors yet nothing has been done.

We are law abiding citizens, however they don't abide by the british legal system. Some of the examples include no insurance , road tax and MOT... if i was stopped by the police I would be be punished severely, so why is a blind-eye approach being taken towards these people.

I have children, neighbours who are elderly and they are freightened to walk down the street. Only 100 yards aways from the Town Hall. Put a stop to this now. We pay taxes for keeping our streets clean and crime free. Put our money to worth or let someone else do the job who can.

Zabir - if you have evidence of car tax evasion, report it online. The authorities can't do anything if they are not told

Given there are something like 2 million untaxed vehicles in the UK, I think it is a bit rich to blame this wholly on new immigrants.

So lets start doing the work for the police and get out pads and paper out and start reporting people with no road tax, its not rocket science most foreign cars from certain countries are not even road worthy. As for the police its alot of paper work hense they turn a blind eye even if you were to report them. We are easy targets as we obide by the law! We pay taxes so we should not need to worry about these things.\r\n\r\nTalking about 2 million un-taxed vehicles in the UK that itself shows what a bad job our cival servents are doing.\r\nsaying that at least we know roughly how many cars we aint got a clue about immigrants!!!!

I live in chalvey, its not the nicest of places. It has its up but MOSTLY its downs. I cant beleive that some children even of my age are too scared to leave their houses as they are afraid. Im only 15 and think this is ridiculous. The welcome to Slough sign is better off saying Enter at your own risk as i have seen many many many bad things. From people being batterd and bruised to some of them not even getting up. The children and familys of chalvey should not feel unsafe in an area where their children should be able to grow up in a harm free area. I know they say bad things can happen everywhere but not as bad as this..!!

I recently attended a chalvey community meeting which was held at the oaps home (centre) on the corner of spackmans way and the turn out was 3 including me. If residents don't have the time to come out and voice their concerns how do you expect the police to help. This meeting was advertised in the local paper.

The incident today brings out greater social issues effecting the people in Slough and notably Chalvey. There is no doubt that the residents in Chalvey have been left to pick up the mess of a failing system. Immigration has to be controlled and well managed, it is sad to see so many people hanging around all day long without jobs or places to go. This then brings about crime and the incident today, which was waiting to happen. Please spread people of foreign communities to other parts of the UK. South Bucks, Windsor, Gerrard Cross open your arms and allow communities in your area as well.

i think the thing that shocked me most about this today, is that i wasnt shocked that it happened. not that it had happened to the person in question (because i dont know her), but that it happened in chalvey. everytime i hear of a knife crime in the news i always think why hasnt it happened here yet. chalvey has all the ingredients for a tragedy...

After reading all the comments it appears that everyone have their own ideas of preventing crime. It is sad that Slough has become such a society and such crimes are being commited. But we can work to change this. I have to agree with Yas.....Slough Borough Council and Thames Valley Police are working extremely hard to tackle the crime we have on our streets. They are giving the public the opportunity to have their say on how community policing can be maintained. It is our duty to assist them, not sit on our backsides and expect them to do all the hardwork. Intelligence is a vital tool in this battle against crime. These Community meetings are held with the objective that we can all help each other. Rat on Rat - We all know who the baddies are...!! They are a burden on society. Start Neighbourhood Watch Schemes, become a Neighbourhood Action Group and start to have a say on what goes on in our town. This is how we can take action!!

Do you really expect us to go out looking for this person when some of us like said above; are afraid to leave our houses.

What right does anyone in the world have to make us feel scared and intimidated.

The police circle the area everyday and try to make the streets safe. I wouldnt wish death on anyone but if this girl was lingering around this road it is not good , most nights girls stand on the street corner and do their jobs to me this seems like a coincidence. But im not judging as i do not know the facts. She might have been purely innocent but until we find out the true facts who are we to judge. 15/f/Chalvey

its not a case of looking for a murderer. sometimes its a case of making a phone call when you hear a scream or a shout. AND not being part group of people who scream and shout in the street so people can notice if there is a real problem.\r\n\r\nthe police made enquiries at my house today, asking if i heard anything last night or this morning. i told them yes, i heard a lot of shouting. and banging. however, i also told them that i hear that every night. and that there is a house near to me that makes that kind of noise all the time, and everytime i check everythings ok. it may well have been them. or it could have been any one of the large groups of NON-immigrant/british teenagers and people in their early twenties who scream their way down my street at night. i said after the 20th, 21st etc time of checking out of my window that it isnt a fight, that noones being hurt, to find that they are just being inconsiderate and they are fine, that i stop looking. that i thought i could be raped in the middle of street and noone would notice if i was screaming, for the same reason.\r\n\r\n\r\none day a nosy neighbour might save your life. but only if as a community people realise that the way they act everyday needs to allow for that.

To anonymous,

before writing comments on here please can you check out the facts. This is my friend and she was not lingering on a street corner. Don't make assumptions. As i have said before, this is a 19yr old girl and a mother and father are at home tonight without their daughter and by comments made on here people will believe she was either to blame or led a life which would end this way. Thats not the case and for the person she was its not fair people make these assumptions. Our friend was nothing like that and simply lost her life when she shouldnt have. We can all have opinions but base them on FACT! Its lies and gossip that cause problems.

I just hope this gets to the national news. Crime, Drugs you name it it goes on in Chalvey, but I never see any police presences. Maybe this is a wake up call.

unfortunatly all that will happen is he will serve a few years in prison given all the mod cons, then when there time is up there given a new identity , home and a fresh start at life.\r\nthe system end up just protecting the abuser not the victim\r\ntypical of this country \r\n\r\na life for a life ..its the only way to try and turn this around\r\nit may make people think twice \r\n\r\npeople who go out and kill people are wrong in the head somewhere surely !\r\nthat aint normal

I am the Detective Inspector from Slough CID who was on duty when the matter was reported. It would be impossible to answer all the questions raised and it is most important that I cannot refer to the on-going investigation because there is a man in custody.

I must set the record straight, the victim had no connection with prostitution and any suggestion otherwise is an atrocious slur upon her character. All my investigation reveals that she comes from a loving family and all my enquiries have led to the conclusion that she was a wonderful person.

The nature of my role means that I deal with a substantial amount of serious and violent crime. However, to put it into context, this is the first murder in Slough for over two and a half years and only the third in five years.

This is probably not the correct forum for me deal with the majority of the issues raised, but I can assure everybody that a thorough investigation is being conducted.

Wild speculation does not help anybody. Most importantly all our thoughts should be with the victim and her family at this time.

Det Ins Armstead has summed it all up. Let them get on with the investigation and stop all the crap of speculating what may have happened.

Please have some consideration for the family.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences go to the family and other loved ones.

May God rest her soul.

Det Insp Steve Armstead thank you for summing it up like that. I was disgusted to read what some people have written about her. I know she would never touch drugs NOR would she sell her body! Se had more respect for herself!

I really hope the man in custody gets what he deserves for what he has done!

Why cant we bring back capital punishment?!

"The nature of my role means that I deal with a substantial amount of serious and violent crime. "

Rather unsuccessfully though Steve, even the 'massaged' statistics fail to conceal the true extent of the rise in violent crime.

What about pulling a few plod off the 'putting the film in speed cameras' duty and putting them on the streets, radical I know but surely worth a try.

You have a town growing more lawless by the day, and a population with ever decreasing confidence in the police.

Funny how quiet Zahid is now the ID's of these people have come out! Stuck for words, maybe - or just checking car taxes!

Thoughts and prayers for the families involved.

End Of The Day, Slough Is A Fail. Until You Experience What Happens In The Streets You Don't Have A Clue Because Most Of It Happens Undetected, Like Street Robbery.

I Blame The Police, They Are Incompetent And Just A Fail. They Are Never There When You Actually Need Them And When You Do See Police, They Are Looking For Something Like Road Tax Dates...Police Do Your Job Because No-one In Slough Is Scared Of You Or Even Respects You, If They Did Respect You, Then Maybe This Girl Would Have Not Been Stabbed.

At the end of the day this is not about race or nationality. Slough is a multicultural town and we should not be pointing fingers at people with a different coloured skin. I hope that justice is served for the killer of this poor girl. My friend also knew her and says that she was lovely and was most definately not caught up in anything that she shouldnt have been. This is an attack that should not have happened. I am scared to walk around by myself now and so are alot of people my age. However, this should be a lesson to us all that we all need to unite. The only way we can stop this is by backing the police up, not going against them. Yes, they do take time on certain things but we do have to understand they have to put things in priority. We really need to show the evil people who are doing this that we are not scared and we are going to do something to stop these fatal attackings. \\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nMy condolences lie with all of her family and friends as I know this is a shock for everyone that knew her. R.I.P.

"Police Do Your Job Because No-one In Slough Is Scared Of You Or Even Respects You, If They Did Respect You, Then Maybe This Girl Would Have Not Been Stabbed"

Sorry but that is a comment from a small minded twit! Its people like u who makes the police work harder! The death of this girl had nothing to do with whether the killer respected the police or not.

This article is not about police checking tax dates or the race of anyone but a beautiful young woman tragically taken from the family & friends who loved her dearly and another man injured!

Some of the comments left are disgusting and whoever left them should be ashamed. This is for the family and friends to come and show there respect not assume what happened, calling her all those horrible things.

As her mum has said... ur not thinking about how the family must feel, not only have they lost someone precious but then have to read some of the comments above!

Laura i know we havent seen eachother in a while but my thoughts are with u and all the family at this terrible time! I hope u got my card!

Luv always
