PROTESTERS are lobbying Prime Minister Gordon Brown to help save Slough's historic Town Hall.
The Campaign to Save Slough Heritage launched an on-petition on the Downing Street website this week to stop the building off Bath Road being bulldozed and converted into flats.
Mr Brown will be respond to the group if it attracts more than 200 signatures.
This comes weeks after English Heritage said the 1930s building, used as Slough Borough Council's headquarters, is of ‘historic interest' and recommended that it should be listed as a Grade-II building.
If the site is listed then it will mean the building will not be knocked down under current plans to transform it into a housing development.
Tristan Miles, chairman of protest group, said: "It really important that Slough has an iconic place to be proud of. The Town Hall is an iconic symbol of civic pride and democracy and we hope the Prime Minister helps us preserve that."
