SAMEER Patel struck his highest ever score for Stoke Green third XI with a massive century on Saturday.

He racked up 174 as Green posted a huge total of 288 all out against Chesham 3s in Division Seven B. Qasim Shakoor also contributed a half-century (50).

Skipper Imran Ahmed said that it was Patel’s best performance since joining the side from obscurity midway through last season.

He said: “That’s the best he has played for us at Stoke Green. It was an absolutlely fantastic score.

“I introduced him to our club. He was playing park cricket before that and has come along big time.”

However, Ahmed was disappointed that the team were not able to cap the performance with a victory.

“They were never going to get our score so they came out to get the draw,” he said. “They were blocking off everything.”

The game ended as a draw as Chesham eventually closed on 178-5 after 53 overs.

Another big centurion this week was Ahmed Chaudhary, who hit 165 for Farnham Royal third XI in Division Six A.

Like Stoke Green, Royal posted a total of 288, unfortunately this also saw them fail to bowl their opponents out as the game ended in a draw.

In Division Two B, Ikhlaq Nawaz was in good form again, this time with the bat, scoring 54 not out as Slough second XI posted a winning total of 251-7 to beat Reading 2s. Ali Ahmed (67) and Abbas Bhatti (59) were also in fine fettle.

Attiq Uddin's 6-95 was essentially too expensive for Slough 3s in Division Three A as they lost to Falkland 2s by 94 runs.

In the same division N Patel scored an unbeaten 61 for Windsor 2s as they beat low-scoring Amersham 2s by eight wickets.

Rhys Williams was on song for Datchet 2s in Division Four B but his 68 could not stop them losing to Marlow 2s by 37 runs.

Spurred on by topping the Honours Board last week, Irfraz Raja pulled out another tremendous performance for Stoke Green 2s. He took 7-62 as Green beat Caversham & Redingensians by 49 runs in Division Five A

Sandeep Bassi top-scored for Farnham Common third XI as they narrowly lost a very close game to Windsor 3s in Division Six A.

He scored 76 not out and C Quelch scored 50 as Common posted a total of 232-7. However, Windsor chased down the total with just one wicket and five overs to spare.

R Major finished just three runs short of a century and C Hardy added 66 as Royal Ascot second XI beat Hurst 2s by a massive 139 runs in Division Six A.

M Hussain (51) led Slough 5s as they chased Odiham & Greywell’s score of 212-6, but fell 35 runs short.

In Division Six B Datchet third XI successfully chased Thatcham’s score of 150 thanks to half-centuries from Paul Furness (66) and P Lategan (53 not out).

Windsor fourth XI could only manage a draw against Chiswick & Latymer 4s despite Max Murray’s contribution of 53 to a first-innings total of 235.
