Junior Jets back with a win
By Steve Spencer
SLOUGH Jets U16s dusted off the half-term cobwebs to sweep Streatham away 5-1.
There was a tentative start to the game with the Jets appearing disjointed in their play until Nick Ward stepped forward and lifted the spirits with a goal just before the break, assisted by Tom Green and Jonny Bowman.
The goal seemed to settle the team down and the physical side of the game stepped up a gear.
Opportunities arose for Jets to get another goal and they took them well through Ward unassisted and Luke Becker just seconds later to make it 3-0.
A minute later, Jets produced the move of the game when Rob Porter split the defence and sent Frankie Lord through on goal. He had a bouncing puck to control and at full tilt took it round the netminder to finish on the backhand.
Streatham fought back with a goal in the final period, but Ward answered back to complete his hat-trick with an assist from Jerrika Jentsch.
