Slough Town internationals play well in USA
By Steve Spencer
SLOUGH Town FC trio Jermaine Gumbs, Brian Connor and Rommell Gumbs performed well for their country Anguilla in Washington DC last night (Wednesday), but could not prevent the tiny carribean island losing 4-0 to El Salvador.
Anguilla trailed 12-0 from the first leg of the World Cup pre-qualifier for South Africa 2010, and it was a case of damage limitation in the second leg.
Defender Connor was delighted with the side's performance as they kept a clean sheet against the El Savadorians in the second half.
Jermaine Gumbs played his part in the game as he created a number of chances for Anguilla, while Rommell Gumbs also featured.
Maidenhead United's James Williams Richardson also played, along with Leighton Town's Emerson Brooks Meade and Hampton & Richmond's Rob Paris. Roy Gumbs was an unused substitute.
The loss puts an end to the dream of qualifying to play in the CONCACAF group for the tournament.
