Jets on Bees revenge mission
By Patrick Corlett
REVENGE will be in the air this weekend as Slough Jets take on Bracknell Bees in the next round of the play-offs.
The Bees stung Slough in the final of the EPL Cup last month as their nine year trophy draught
continued.
In controversial fashion, Bracknell overturned a 4-3 reversal in their home leg to secure the cup with a 6-5 aggregate victory deep into overtime with a powerplay goal.
Slough felt hard done by and will be keen to gain a measure of revenge as they host Bracknell on Saturday before making the trip to the Beehive on Sunday night.
Head coach Steve Moria said: “Revenge will be on everyone’s mind after that tough loss against Bracknell (in the EPL Cup Final).”
However, it is crucial play-off points that both sides need as they look to qualify for the Finals weekend in Coventry later this campaign.
“We need to get two points against Bracknell on Saturday then that will put us in good sted for the trip there on Sunday and you never know,” remarked Moria, whose side have already comprehensively
beaten Bracknell twice at the Hangar this season.
“We’ve played very, very well against Bracknell all year – we were just unfortunate to lose the big cup final earlier in the season,” he said.
“Michael Bowman and Les Millie are possibles for the games, they will have late fitness tests to decide whether they can play. If we can get one or both of those guys on the ice it will be a big boost for this club because they are both big players.”
