Must win game for Blues
By Patrick Corlett
BURNHAM boss Dave Mudge hailed his side’s performance on Tuesday night as ‘the best of the year’ by Burnham FC.
Although the Blues were beaten 3-1 at title chasing Didcot Town, they were ‘sensational’ according to their manager who is looking for more of the same as their play-off push faltered with consecutive defeats.
Despite the losses, Mudge has not ruled out a top five finish for Burnham.
Burnham host Fleet Town tomorrow (Saturday) with the visitors needing the win to stay in the hunt for the title.
“We have got to pick ourselves up for Saturday,” said Mudge. “Fleet still have a chance of winning the league.
“If we play like we did on Tuesday we will beat Fleet. We will beat 99 teams out of 100 if we can keep to that level and play like that.
“We’ve got to get up for it and win the three games that we’ve got left, if we don’t then I don’t think we will make the play-offs.
“If it’s good enough, it is good enough. If not then fair enough, we’ve got a young side.
“The teams are playing each other so you never know, if you’re playing catch up then sometimes it’s easier.”
