Sweetman aims to sink Fleet in survival quest
SURVIVAL is still possible for Slough Town as they travel to second placed Fleet Town tomorrow (Saturday).
The Rebels lie one point behind Bracknell who visit Taunton needing to better Slough’s result in order to stay up.
Derek Sweetman’s side have picked up seven points out of their last three games to give themselves a chance and they will be looking to continue that fine form against Fleet who have Didcot Town and Oxford City snapping at their heels.
“It becomes a mindset thing now,” remarked Sweetman. “Fleet need to win to guarantee a home draw in the semi-final and final (of the play-offs) but at the same time they are already in the play-offs so there isn’t as much importance on the game as there is for us.
“They are a big strong physical side. They are not the best footballing side but are one of the most consistent in the league, which is what you want.”
However, Sweetman knows his troops will give it a go and won’t make it easy for Andy Sinton’s side.
“You never know, in the heat of the battle and the way my lads have been playing of late they will have to go some to beat us,” he stated.
“If it comes down to the fact that if Bracknell go to Taunton and win we’ve got to say fair play but we’ve given it our best shot."
