EX-REBELS Richard Pierson and Craig Roberts have returned to Slough Town FC.

Manager Derek Sweetman has re-signed the pair and is keen to add more to the squad.

The players returned on Tuesday evening for their first pre-season training session and Sweetman was delighted with how it went.

“It was good, we had a good turn out, over 40 bodies were there,” he said.

“I put them through their paces, made them work hard.

“The lads worked extremely hard, I was very pleased with the endeavour on the night.

“There’s loads of things to work on and get my teeth into.”

Central defender Pierson was at Slough several seasons ago and will add a touch of class to the defence with Roberts providing bundles of energy around the park.

“There was a few new bodies around, we’ve re-signed Richard Pierson,” remarked Sweetman.

“He comes with a wealth of experience from Didcot and from Slough many seasons ago. He is very good on the ball, excellent in both boxes and a calming influence on the people around him.

“Craig Roberts is a former Wycombe Wanderers footballer, got released and came to Slough and broke his leg.

“He has had a problem with his knee, last season he played for Marlow and put in some outstanding performances since Christmas.

“He is energetic, goes from box to box. His energy and adaptability will be a big factor for us. He is gagging to get back playing regular football and wants to make up for lost time.”
