Fantastic fightback from Rebels
By Lee Jones
Football - Slough Town 3 Cirencester Town 2
Derek Sweetman's Slough Town came from a goal behind at half-time to win 3-2 against Cirencester this afternoon.
A poor performance in the first 45 minutes saw the Rebels trailing 1-2 to goals from Matthew Williams (15') and Jamie Reid (34').
The only bright spark in the first-half was a 29th minute debut goal for Yashwa Romeo, who joined the side from Oxford City on Thursday.
After the break, Slough were a different side as Danny Jordan and Matthew Platt scored in the 70th and 83rd minutes respectively.
The 85th minute dismissal of Roy Gumbs for his second yellow card was the only downer for the home side.
"I wasn't happy with the first half by any means and thought we were awful," remarked Sweetman after the game.
"I told the boys at half-time in no uncertain terms how I felt and what I expected, and got the reaction we should have had.
"And I think in the end we deserved the three points. In the second-half we did what we should have done from the start and our quality told in the end."
He added: "The boys have shown some great spirit and were fighting until the end, and even when we went down to ten men we've seen the game out."
