Referee gives Mudge the Blues
By Lee Jones
Football - Truro City 3 Burnham 0
Burnham FC's unbeaten start to the league season ended today as Dave Mudge's side went down 3-0 to Truro City.
The Blues fell behind in the 12th minute when Scott Walker opened the scoring. Late goals from Stewart Yetton in the 77th minute and Andy Watkins eight minutes later, gave the scoreline a flattering look for the hosts.
Mudge was proud of his players but disgusted by the quality of refereeing on show: "When we were 0-1 down the referee blew for a penalty and then just changed his mind and let the game go on.
"We also scored at 0-1 but it was disallowed and then we've conceded two goals late on, so we've gone down 0-3 but could quite easily have won 2-1.
"My assistant Steve Hale was sent from the dug-out for his protests at half-time and the referee was probably the worst official I've come across in Southern League football
"I thought my players were superb, we're playing against a team that's got a huge budget. I thought we more than matched them for long periods of the game but we've not had that little bit of luck, that's all," added a disappointed Mudge.
