THE former Tory group leader for Slough Borough Council has pleaded guilty to bigamy.
Councillor Pervez Choudhry, of Tuns Lane, Slough, who pleaded not guilty to the charge in August last year, changed his plea on Tuesday (17/4) at Reading Crown Court, where a trial was due to begin.
The 53-year-old will be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday, May 18.
The Central ward councillor defected from Labour to the Conservative party in 2008 and resigned from his position as Conservative leader in Slough and from the party last year.
He will be standing as an independent councillor in the May elections.
