COUNCILLORS have granted permission for the council to make bid no larger than £1m to be made when The Cross Keys pub in Chalvey comes up for auction.

Approval was given during Monday evening’s cabinet meeting.

The report states the land, which is currently owned by Crossier Properties Ltd, would enable the creation of eleven high quality new houses which the council says will addto the regeneration of the town, providing temporary employment and apprenticeship opportunities and an income stream which could contribute to the cost of frontline council services.

The Savills auction will take place at London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square on Tuesday, July 28.
