SLOUGH Town FC have announced a quintet of new signings as preparations for the 2015/16 season begin in earnest this week.

The Rebels returned for pre-season training last week ahead of their first friendly match away at Farnborough this Saturday (2pm ko).

Slough were boosted by the return of Warren Harris and Jamie McClurg from long-term injuries, though Adam Foulser is still recovering from a hamstring tear.

Among the new signings, is very experienced keeper Mark Scott from Oxford City.

Scott, 24, played as a professional at Swindon, and spent time on loan at Salisbury in the Conference South, including playing at Sheffield United in the FA Cup second round.

Slough joint-bosses Neil Baker and Jon Underwood felt the need to start the season with competition all over the pitch, and Scott will team up with Luke Williams to compete for the number one jersey.

Next in the door is central defender Gary ‘Macca’ Macdonald, who is well-known to The Rebels and has had an excellent career in professional and semi-professional football.

He joins the club from Hayes & Yeading United, and will help add the experience Slough need at the back, which was missing last season.

Centre half Craig Scott, 27, joins from Marlow where he was captain having joined the club last summer.

He joined Marlow after relocating from Newcastle to London, where he played for a number of sides in the Northern League.

Scott is a solid, no-nonsense centre-half and comes highly rated.

Right-back or central midfielder Nathan Webb is the next recruit having joined The Rebels from Kingstonian.

He is well-known from his time at Burnham and Beaconsfield though he also has Conference South experience with Farnborough and Wealdstone.

Webb has bundles of energy and will be an asset to the squad, who also gives options in a number of positions.

Finally, Slough have also signed much sought-after striker Lewis Putman, who came to the attention of Baker and Underwood when he scored 80-plus goals for Oxhey Jets at step five level.

Despite trials at a few professional clubs, he signed for Wealdstone where he was a part of the side that tore The Rebels to pieces in that pre-season.

An anterior cruciate ligament injury put his promising career on hold, however a season at step four where he was amongst the league’s top scorers, means he will be an excellent addition to the squad.

Putman will fight for a place in the first team with Eddie Smith, Scott Harris and Dan Read.

In terms of promising youngsters at the club, Oscar Betts has joined Marlow to gain some senior experience, and when Matt Bonnett gets fully fit he will do something similar.
