A man has been sentenced to six months in prison for assault and drugs offences.

Abdiriziak Jama, aged 22, of Lismore Park in Slough, was found guilty by unanimous jury after a two day trial at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, of one count of Section 20 wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm, and one count of possession of class B drug – cannabis.

He was sentenced on the same day to six months in prison for GBH and one day in prison for the drug offence, to be served consecutively.

At 8.48pm on 22 January 2015, the victim, a 21-year-old woman, attempted to break up a fight in Herschel Road car park in Slough.

Jama punched her in the face, causing two fractures to her eye socket.

Upon arrest he was found to be in possession of a small amount of herbal cannabis.

Det Con Dan Spiers from Berkshire East Force CID said: “I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victim and the two witnesses who came to court and gave evidence in the trial. Without the assistance of victims and witnesses we cannot bring people like Jama to justice for the crimes they commit.”
