A MAN has been charged in connection with Friday night's assault in Salt Hill Park which left a man fighting for his life.

Varlee Konneh, 28, of no fixed abode, was charged yesterday with one count of grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the attack at around 11pm on Friday.

A 25-year-old man was discovered in the park with serious head injuries. He was taken to Wexham Park Hospital and has since been transferred to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The victim remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

A scene watch was in place in the park until Sunday.

Konneh has also been charged with a second count of greivous bodily harm, one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault by beating and one count of affray.

These charges are in connection with incidents in Ledgers Road, Slough, on 21 May and on 18 June in which men were reported to have been assaulted.

Konneh was also charged with one count of robbery in connection with an incident in Ragstone Road, Slough, on August 17, in which a man reported having his watch stolen in a robbery.

Konneh was remanded to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he was further remanded by the court to appear at Reading Crown Court on September 21.
