POLICE have named an 18-year-old man as the victim of a fatal stabbing.

Wa-ays Dhaye, from Slough, died at Wexham Park Hospital yesterday after being seriously injured in a stabbing attack.

Officers were called to the junction of Thurston Road and Waterbeach Road, Manor Park, shortly after 11.10pm last night following reports that a man had been stabbed.

A post mortem carried out this afternoon confirmed Mr Dhaye sustained and died from multiple stab wounds.

A resident in the road said: "I was on my computer using the internet last night and at around 11pm I saw police lights all flashing through the glass in my front door.

"I looked out the window and there were more than eight police cars and two ambulances.

"It was like a [television] crime scene out here, the police were looking around the streets with their torches."

Officers are investigating the circumstances and have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and scene watch remains in place at the junction of Thurston Road and Waterbeach Road.

Senior investigating officer, Det Ch Insp Simon Steel of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who has any information which could help with officers’ enquiries or anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of Thurston Road at around the time of the incident.

"Even if you think details may be insignificant, please come forward and speak to police.

"We also continue to carry out house to house enquiries in the area and I would like to thank residents for their patience while this vital work is carried out.

“We understand there is an impact on residents in the area and appreciate their understanding while we investigate. Officers are in the area and anyone with any concerns can approach an officer or call 101 to speak to the neighbourhood team.

“Further, specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family and loved ones. Our condolences are with them at this extremely traumatic time.

“Finally, at this stage, the murder is not being linked to an assault that occurred in Salt Hill Park on Friday.”
