PLANS are in motion for a quarry set to be built in Datchet after the proposal was granted planning permission in August.

CEMEX submitted 12 applications to the Royal Borough asking for different conditions to be discharged before the development takes place, as well as one for the construction of building devices.

The company’s plan to extract gravel and sand at Riding Court Farm in Datchet, that was submitted in June 2013, was given council permission this summer and the company has followed it up with various applications as required by pre-commencement conditions.

An application with details of archaeological work that would be carried out with the development was approved on September 22.

The 10 other applications give details of invasive species, tree protection, the site set-up plan.

the dust management and, the soil management plan, complaint procedures, external appearance, badger survey and mitigation strategy, reptile mitigation strategy, streams, ditches and water voles.

In addition to the applications on the conditions, another was also submitted requesting planning permission for the construction of mineral processing and ready-mixed concrete plants and associated infrastructure.

The remaining applications are still pending consideration by the Royal Borough.

The new quarry will replace Kingsmead Quarry in Horton, also owned by CEMEX, where excavations found important archaeological items. When the plan was first submitted it said that the work would begin in 2016 and would operate for six years.

It was also stated that the site would be fully restored after 11 years.
