A NEW Victorian sci-fi cafe opened its doors to the public for the first time this weekend, offering 50% off to all its customers.

Lounge Fifteen, based in High Street, Iver, is blessed with enough space to cater for many customers, as it experienced at first hand in its opening weekend.

The cafe will serve all the usual teas, coffees and cold drinks, as well as boasting an extensive food menu that includes paninis, baguettes and cakes.

The cafe takes the Victorian sci-fi theme Steampunk, which was inspired by the building itself, according to its new owner.

To celebrate the opening weekend, the cafe was offering 50% off all hot drinks.

Live music entertainment took place in the shape of Fingers In The Jam, who are an acoustic trio, popular for their range of instruments that include the fiddle, melodica, ukelele and much more.

The owner, Marcus Robinson, also owns Fontain Motors in High Street, Iver, and a special old-fashioned car was made to present to the customers outside the cafe over the weekend.

Mr Robinson said he had been delighted with the response over the weekend, and that the amount of custom boded well for the future of the cafe.

He said: “This is a totally new thing for me, I’ve never been in this business before.

“When I bought the premises, I was originally thinking of extending Fontain Motors, but after speaking to people and with my own thoughts on the side, I figured that Iver doesn’t have anything like this, so it seemed a good business move.

“I’ve been delighted with the response we’ve had this weekend, and we’ve been so busy too.

"It’s been perfect really.

“I expect the hype will calm down soon, but I just hope we’ve left a good enough impression on everyone to want to come back again so we can get a good flow of customers.

“The theme came about because it’s a lovely Victorian building.

"We didn’t just want to have the look of an ordinary cafe like so many others.”
