A THREE bedroom home in the Royal Borough costs nearly £2,000 a month to rent after a more than 20% skyrocket rise last year, new figures have revealed.

Rental prices for three-bedroom properties in the Royal Borough were up 21.5% in August compared to 12 months previous, standing at an eye-watering £1,936 per month average, according to the Landbay Rental Index.

This was the fastest rise for three bedroom properties in the UK, two per cent more than second-placed Southend-on-Sea where the average rent was £1,121.

The Royal Borough does not feature in the top ten rental risers outside of London when it comes to properties as a whole, regardless of the number of bedrooms.

Slough was placed 14th in the top rental risers for three bedroom homes, up 8.2%in August this year compared to 12 months previous, with an average of £1,271.

The UK average rise for three bedroom properties was 4.6%.

The main reason for the above-average rises in the Royal Borough and Slough is thought to be the proximity to London and therefore the settlements’ desirability to commuters.

However, Buckinghamshire was the third highest rental faller outside of London for all bedrooms, down 3.5% year-on-year in August to a £1,139 average.

The report also found UK rents have risen by 3.3% in the last year to £1,281, but adds growth in rent prices is easing The Index is the first to track rental trends to the county and London borough level in combination with the number of bedrooms.
