A WIN of £25,000 on the People's Postcode Lottery has given a man from Slough the cash needed to restore his beloved vintage motor.
Ajay Singh, of Grasmere Avenue, was overjoyed to discover his postcode had helped him scoop thousands of pounds on Saturday.
Mr Singh said: “I was not expecting that, I’ll never forget this day.
“People’s Postcode Lottery saved my car."
Some of the money won in the Saturday Street Prize will be used to fix up Mr Singh's Morris Minor Traveller, 1967. He added: “I love my car but it desperately needs work.
"I would never have been able to afford any repairs if I hadn’t won the money and I was on the verge of selling it, the lottery really has saved it.”
After losing his job three years ago, Mr Singh has struggled with money ever since and this cash boost will make life easier for him.
He said: "It really couldn’t have come at a better time.
"I am now a self-employed courier but winning this money really is a relief. I’ll also get work done on the house and put the rest into savings.”
Judie McCourt, the People's Postcode Lottery ambassador who presented the cheque to Mr Singh, said: “It was great to meet Ajay today and present him with his cheque.
"It was obvious that he loves his car so I’m pleased that the money will allow him to restore it properly.”
