WITH the festive season about to swing into action, a town plans to kick off the celebrations with a Christmas light switch-on.

Slough town's Christmas lights switch-on event will take place on Thursday, November 26, from 2.30pm, playing host to Santa, dancers from Creative Academy - a dance organisation in Slough, dogs from Woofability and Slough rock band The Chilli Fighters.

There will be a Foodie Fayre serving traditional bratwursts, a Christmas carvery, hot doughnuts and crepes.

Local businesses and shops that have donated prizes include HTC, Absolutely Ice, Starbucks, The Fragrance Shop, Empire Cinema, Race Hut, Mars, Venture Photography and Jump Around bouncy castles.

Based around the newest Disney Pixar film The Good Dinosaur, Activus soft play are bringing an archaeology ball pit and treasure hunt for children to have fun with between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

Children will get the chance to find a special dinosaur egg and win a prize - find them by the Bird Tree.

Then from 3.30pm there will be acts, music, food and the Christmas lights switch-on before fireworks at 6pm.

Lynsey Hellewell, Slough Borough Council’s events officer, said: “The Christmas light switch-on is a great start to the festive season.

“With brilliant music, acts, fireworks and amazing prizes, it’s a fantastic opportunity to relax, enjoy, and get into the Christmas spirit.”
