A NEW centre has been opened with a pledge to support vulnerable adults to help them reach their full potential.

Burnham Opportunities Centre, in Minniecroft Road, is the latest development to open as part of Buckinghamshire County Council’s day opportunities modernisation programme, which has seen £13.5m committed to supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism, as well as older adults including those with dementia.

Around 100 guests spent Friday afternoon at the official opening of the refurbished centre which offers modern, state-of-the-art facilities to its visitors, including a host of activity rooms and a training kitchen.

Buckinghamshire Care – the Local Authority Trading Company of Buckinghamshire County Council – will initially be supporting around 30 adults at the new centre for the first time later this month.

Martin Farrow, managing director of Buckinghamshire Care, said: “Following the initial great success of our opportunities centres in Aylesbury, Buckingham and Chesham, we are delighted to open yet another modern centre in Burnham, which I have no doubt will be at the forefront of supporting adults from across the south of the county.

“The centre is also here as a place for the community. It offers a modern, spacious environment and we really want to forge strong local links – not just with those from the Burnham area – but other like-minded organisations from across Buckinghamshire.”
