A CAFE for people living with dementia celebrated its first birthday this month.

The Alzheimer's Society Dementia Cafe in Iver marked the occasion with a sing-a-long, talks and more.

Caroline Arnett-Wilsher, Alzheimer’s Society dementia support worker for the area, said: “There are currently estimated to be 1,101 people living with dementia in the South Bucks area and this number is set to rise. But with the right support, people can live well with the condition in their communities.

“The Dementia Café can really help improve people’s quality of life and provide an opportunity for people to socialise and get much needed face to face support.”

The monthly cafe offers support to people living with dementia and their carers at the Evreham Centre in Swallow Street and meets on every second Tuesday between 2pm and 4pm.

It will be re-launching in the New Year as a Wellbeing Café, with plans to offer a range of other activities such as taster sessions in tai chi or seated yoga, along with mini-massages.
