A SENIORS club has dedicated its arts and crafts time to knitting blankets to help keep Algerian children warm throughout the winter.
Slough’s YMCA Seniors Club meets every Tuesday and has spent the last three months knitting blankets to be sent out to Algerian Action for Children refugee camps.
Marcia Wright, a member of the club, said: “We wanted to do something for winter for children. When we started we had a few beginners to knitting, but now everyone can at least knit squares.”
“We didn’t know each other when we started first started coming. We’ve been able to work together on a project where and we’re reaching out to people who are less well looked after.”
The club meets at the YMCA Hang Out in Ladbrooke Road, Chalvey from 10.30am-12.30pm.
