FRENCH cuisine was on the menu in Langley last Thursday as catering students served up sophisticated meals for diners.

Students at East Berkshire College showed off their culinary skills to the public as the Zest restaurant at the Langley campus hosted its first themed night of the year.

Tracey Jacques booked a table at the French night to celebrate her mother’s birthday. She said: “I’ve been to the Zest restaurant a few times now and the food is delicious. It is wonderful value for money and it seems to get better every year.”

Diners enjoyed a menu including Coquille st Jacques (grilled scallops) and Crepes Suzette (pancakes in orange and brandy sauce). The fine dining menu, which included a host of classic dishes with a modern twist, offered guests a three-course meal for just £17.50 plus a complimentary amuse bouche and petit fours.

The Zest restaurant at Langley College is open to the public and provides a real work environment for the students as all food is cooked and served by students under the supervision of industry-trained staff.

It is open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Tuesday to Thursday lunchtimes in term time only. For more information on Zest restaurant, forthcoming theme nights or to book a table, go to www.eastberks.ac.uk/Zest or call 01753 793344.
