THE company behind a world-leading film studios is considering selling up to raise funds for its expansion plans.

Pinewood Group, which runs Pinewood Studios in Pinewood Road, Iver Heath, has appointed advisors Rothschild to assist with a 'strategic review of the overall capital base and structure' which could lead to the sale of the company.

Pinewood attempted to raise £30m in a share placing scheme last year to part fund phase one of the Pinewood Studios Development Framework (PSDF), but it did not achieve that and is now considering the alternate options.

The studios, which is famous for producing Hollywood blockbusters such as James Bond and Star Wars, came under much scrutiny for its plans from the local community, with a planning inquiry being held in 2014 which eventually led to the secretary of state for communities and local government approving the expansion.

Ivan Dunleavy, chief executive of the Pinewood Group, said: "We believe Pinewood has the potential to build on the strong performance of the last few years to grow further both in the UK and internationally.

"The board is now looking to identify the best ways to create the appropriate capital structure to allow the company to realise its goals in the best interests of shareholders."
