DRIVERS are being reminded that road works will see a southbound carriageway closed for night-time works.

Slough Borough Council is reminding drivers that the southbound carriageway of A355 Tuns Lane, Slough, will be closed over night tomorrow.

The southbound carriageway will be fully shut between 9pm and 6am on Wednesday morning – a slightly longer closure than originally publicised - to allow workers to install new lanes on the approach to the Copthorne roundabout.

Diversions will be in place, although residents will still have full access to their homes.

Although the work is being done at night to minimise the impact, some delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Once finished, the junction of Tuns Lane with Church Street and Cippenham Lane will be a so-called hamburger roundabout, where the main carriageway – in this case Tuns Lane - goes straight through the middle of the junction.

The roundabout will also get a new ‘intelligent’ traffic light system which senses traffic jams and adjusts the sequencing of the lights accordingly.

The £5.5m scheme also involves widening parts of Tuns Lane to three lanes.

Work is expected to be complete by November.
