A MUCH-LOVED duck - known to be quite a character - has sadly gone missing, leaving her mate and residents frantic to find her.

A loving, entertaining and very special duck going by the name of Agnetha, who calls the Grand Union Canal Slough Arm home, has been missing since Sunday afternoon and residents along the waterfront are desperate to find her.

The sassy Swedish Blue was found very disorientated after being dumped on the canal around a year and a half ago and she was taken under the wing of a resident in Waterside Grange, in Langley.

The lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "She has made a life for herself, she's got a boyfriend, she's made friends, she's part of the community and very much loved and adored."

Slough Observer:

Agnetha, who does not fly as a result of a broken wing and has suffered a pellet to her head in the past, was last seen with her boyfriend Andy at around 12pm on Sunday. The mallard was then spotted on his own that evening quite upset and seemingly searching for her.

The resident said: "They are always together and he's very protective.

"Lately she's got really cocky because she's popular and people feed her. She's been spending too much time on the towpath and crossing the road."

She added: "At first we didn't know if she was a goose. She really stands out. She's such a character and a very famous duck around here.

"She had a broken right wing so she's been in to Swan Support because she couldn't swim properly. They've fallen in love with her as well."

Slough Observer:

A search party was organised Sunday evening but so far there has been no sign - not even feathers to indicate a possible struggle with a fox.

The anxious resident lost her mother two years. Two months later Agnetha appeared, lost and needing help - a welcome addition to her life during the sad time.

She, along with the community in the area, are desperate to find the unique duck.
