AN INSPIRING student has been named Volunteer Of The Month.
Saleha Latif, aged 17-years-old and a student at Burnham Grammar School, in Hogfair Lane, Burnham, has been named Volunteer Of The Month by vInspired, the nation’s leading youth volunteering charity.
Miss Latif is passionate about changing perceptions and breaking stereotypes amongst her peers, members of her community and beyond. And it was because of this passion that she was nominated by Zaeema Hussain, a fellow volunteer at Aik Saath – a Slough-based youth charity.
Miss Latif said: “It’s quite overwhelming as it came completely out of the blue, I feel very honoured to be selected.
“I am very determined to help create a safe society where people don’t feel marginalised or penalised for things that they cannot help.
“With Aik Saath I get to go into schools and do workshops with various people and teach them about the importance of acceptance and understanding so that we no longer live in a discriminatory society.”
So far, more than 164,000 young people have used vInspired.com to volunteer with more than 4,400 charities.
