A father of four is planning to walk 335 miles in a bid to raise money to help sick children's dreams come true.

Brian Morgan, a former pupil at Slough and Eton School in Ragstone Road, Slough plans to set off from St Paul's Cathedral in London on June 12, walking to Land's End in 12 days.

The 46 year old kitchen fitter, who lived in Cress Road, Cippenham for many years, has never done anything like it before. But he decided he wanted to contribute to Make-A-Wish, the charity that helps children with life threatening illnesses fulfil their dreams - anything from becoming a policeman for a day to going on a journey to somewhere they have always wanted to go.

Mr Morgan said: "It is about giving families happy memories they will always be able to hold onto instead of just hospitals and treatments."

His own children are aged 13, 15, 21 and 23. He said: "Thankfully all out kids are healthy. We've been lucky enough not to to need any help from a charity. So I really wanted to raise some money to help others who have not been so lucky."

He hopes to raise £5,000, covering more than the length of a marathon every day and staying at pre-booked hotels on the way.

He says it is the longest he will ever have been away from his family. But there will be some company for him during the second week - his old schoolfriend Neil Heming, of Iona Crescent, Burnham, will be joining him for part of the walk.
