The plans for a new £49m emergency department at Slough's Wexham Park Hospital will be unveiled to the public later this month.

The new department will contain separate children's and minor injuries units as well as 36 individual rooms for major injuries.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, which now runs the hospital in Slough, will be revealing full details of the plans to the public on Wednesday, May 25.

Visitors to the John Lister Post-Graduate Centre at Wexham Park will be able to discuss the plans with staff involved in the project and some of the technical team between 3pm and 8pm.

The new department will also include a 34-bed combined assessment and ambulatory care centre.

If approved, construction work could start in spring 2017.

The proposal is part of a multi-million pound investment programme to transform services at Wexham Park and Ascot’s Heatherwood Hospital over the next few years.

Frimley Health Director of HR and Corporate Services Janet King said the trust would welcome public views on the scheme.

She added: “This is an exciting time for Wexham Park Hospital, which was recently rated 'good' by the Care Quality Commission.

“The new emergency department and assessment centre is the latest stage of our ongoing commitment to provide the highest standards of care for our patients.

“We do hope you will join us to see our ideas for this development and hear how it will benefit people treated there.”

All are welcome to turn up at the open day.
