DEMOLITION of churches, building on open spaces and the relocation of a fire station are all up for debate as Slough’s local plan launches.

Slough Borough Council (SBC) has asked residents to have their say on potential development in the town over the next 20 years.

Earlier this year suggestions on which sites in the area could be utilised resulted in more than 100 proposals being put forward by residents, developers and organisations across the borough.

One proposal would see Slough fire station relocated and replaced with around 100 flats if the plan, submitted by Shanly Homes Ltd, is supported.

Meanwhile, a proposal for St John the Baptist Church in Stoke Poges Lane, and St Michael’s Church in Whitby Road, to be demolished has been put forward, with one new church constructed in its place.

Many of the proposals focus around development in Colnbrook and Poyle, including ‘Coln Henge’, a derelict half-constructed property development which was cancelled around eight years ago.

New schools, office blocks and more residential developments also feature.

More information on the plans, as well as other submissions, can be viewed at www.slough.gov.uk as well as in the central library and at the council offices.

Residents have until Friday, July 15 to have their say. Email planningpolicy@slough.gov.uk or write to the planning team at St Martin’s Place, 51, Bath Road, Slough, SL13UF.
