A FILM studio has been granted further temporary permission for more film sets.

Pinewood Studios was granted permission for three years by South Bucks District Council (SBDC) planning committee on Wednesday to construct 11 temporary buildings as film sets.

It is the second temporary application approved, after Pinewood was given permission in April last year for films sets and associated works for 12 months.

Some areas of land will be protected as part of the temporary permission, due to its environmental significance, but councillor Cllr George Sandy had concerns over enforcement whether this would be able to be enforced.

He said: “It mentions in the officer’s report for the skylarks to be protected. There will be people wandering about that site, and a lot of them. If there is to be areas that are protected, how does one prevent that from happening?”

The studios in Pinewood Road, Iver Heath, had already been granted full planning permission for the site following a planning inquiry into its expansion 2014, which involved doubling the size of the site over three phases.

The first phase of the expansion is nearing completion, but the second phase, which has yet to begin, is due to take place on this site.

Cllr Sandy’s views were echoed by Iver Parish Council, who objected to the application, stating that the “ecological measures are rendered useless due to constant disturbance of land which would not have been the case had phases two and three been implemented”.

Four other written objections were also submitted.

The planning officer’s report deemed the plans as “inappropriate development” in the Green Belt, but very special circumstances exist with regards to the studios’ national importance to allow it to go ahead.
