A SLOUGH man has been jailed for historic sex offences.

Charles Webster, 76, of Rochford Gardens, Slough, was convicted and sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday last week for the offences which took place more than 40 years ago.

He pleaded guilty to one count of rape and three counts of indecent assault against a child aged between 13 and 16, with the offences occurring between 1969 and 1972 in Slough.

He has been jailed for a total of 12 years.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Hayley Burns of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit at Windsor Police Station, said: “Webster carried out these offences over a number of years. It is only due to the courage of the victim in coming forward that his crimes have been exposed. I would like to pay tribute to them for their strength in coming forward.

“The conviction and sentence serves as an important message to people who have been the victim of crimes such as these, or those that know such crimes are being committed, that they should come forward so that the abusers can be brought to justice.”
