COMMUNITIES across Slough were given support by the owners of Europe’s leading trading estate in a Day of Giving.

SEGRO supported community groups and charities on Friday last week, working with 10 groups to offer help with a variety of different projects.

LIFE Hostel in Slough and Pippins School in Colnbrook were two of the local groups to benefit from its work.

David Sleath, SEGRO chief executive, said: “The annual SEGRO Day of Giving is a great initiative and offers all our staff a chance to give back in a positive way. It’s good to be associated with so many worthy charities and support projects that really make a difference to the local communities in which we work.

“All of the activities that we’re undertaking this year are associated with creating spaces that enable extraordinary things to happen – which links perfectly with SEGRO’s central purpose.”

SEGRO employees organised and tidied the gardens at LIFE Hostel, one of the largest providers of accommodation for pregnant women. Employees helped to weed and plant flowers in the outside garden area.

Pippins School in Rodney Way had a fresh lick of paint as employees attended the primary school to paint walls and help to renovate the garden area.

A total of 10 charities and community organisations benefited from the initiative, including across Europe with work taking place in Paris, Dusseldorf and Warsaw.

Around 300 staff members took part in the day in areas where SEGRO operates, including across its pan-European business. SEGRO, which owns and operates Slough Trading Estate, is a keen supporter of engaging employees in charitable initiatives. In previous years, teams have come together to paint local schools, weed hospital grounds and help out at a local charity focused on servicing the needs of young children.

The company owns or manages more than six million square metres of space valued at approximately £7 billion. Properties are located in and around major cities and at key transportation hubs in the UK and in nine other European countries.
