A POPULAR summer event will return this weekend as an equestrian centre celebrates the opening of a new arena.

Moorwards Farm Equestrian Coaching Facility in Iver Heath will host Party in the Paddock on Sunday, with free entry to the community for a fun day of activities.

The facility's third summer event will also mark the opening of the dedicated Accessibility Mark arena, in partnership with Riding for the Disabled (RDA) and Hoof, the British Equestrian Federation's participation programme.

The area will be utilised by people with special needs looking to take up equestrian and other equine related activities.

Rayees Rashid, project coordinator at the centre, said: "It is our third Party in the Paddock and is one of the only free, large events in the area.

"It is a chance for families to come down, listen to music, check out some craftwork and watch demonstrations.

"We want to show what we are all about and there is something for everyone.

"We are trying to make a bit of a family fun day out of it for the local community and hopefully the weather is on our side."

Party in the Paddock will start at 1pm at the facility in Slough Road, with displays in the equestrian paddocks and indoor riding arenas.

Alex Uttley, from gymnast group Spelbound which won Britain's Got Talent in 2010, will take part in demonstrations, and professional stunt performer Steve Dent, who works with famous movie stars at nearby Pinewood Studios, will perform with his horses which have featured in films such as The Huntsman, Cinderella and War Horse.

Young equestrians from Moorwards Farm will also put on demonstrations, with performances from community groups and live music from local bands.

There will also be food, a bouncy castle and children's rides, as well as craft stalls, a dog agility show and pony rides.

More than 250 people are expected to attend based on attendances in previous years, and all profits from the day will go towards HorseHeard, a charity which provides equine facilitated learning for children and young adults, developing key emotional and social intelligence skills and increases confidence and self-esteem
