A SLOUGH rapist has been jailed for life for a "horrendous" attack on a woman at Slough Crematorium.
Christopher Rode, 30, of Granville Avenue, Slough was sentenced to life imprisonment at Reading Crown a court today after pleading guilty to two counts of rape and one count of GBH with intent.
It relates to a brutal attack on a woman in her 50s at the cemetery in Stoke Road on May 9.
Rode hit the woman over the head with an object as she paid her respects to a loved one, before raping her twice.
He was arrested in May 12 and was charged the following day.
Investigating officer, Det Insp Stuart Brangwin, from Maidenhead Force CID, said: “The horrendous attack on this woman while she was paying her respects to a loved one in a public crematorium was a truly dreadful crime which shocked the local community.
“Christopher Rode admitted what he had done and has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes, following a swift police investigation and court case.
“I hope that knowing Rode is behind bars for a very long time will help the victim as she moves forward with her life. My thoughts remain with her and I would like to thank her for her bravery throughout the investigation.”
Rode will serve a minimum term of 14 years and nine months.
