SHOCKED friends and family are coming to terms with her unexpected death of a vivacious ex-teacher and charity supporter.

Maggie Moore, 66, died suddenly in her sleep at home in Trinity Place, Windsor only days after returning with her husband Tony from a family wedding in the Cotswolds.

She never knew she had been suffering from a systemic heart disease.

She was a popular schoolteacher who taught for 20 years in Slough at both James Elliman and St Mary CE Primary Schools, retiring six years ago.

But her husband said: "She often went back as a volunteer to supervise the children's reading."

The couple had been married 40 years and devoted a lot of their time to the registered children's charity El Shaddai in Goa, India.

Mr Moore said: "The charity works with a wide range of street children, orphans and children from economically underprivileged conditions through child care, slum support and village level interventions. Maggie and I visited Goa on many occasions over the years and were privileged to meet some of the children supported by this charity. "

He said of his wife: "She was fun loving lady who loved company. Everybody knew her in our community."

He said neighbours and friends had joined his son Julian in supporting him since his wife's death on Wednesday, July 6.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday, July 27 at Holy Trinity Garrison Church, in Trinity Place at 1.30pm - conducted by Reverend Ainsley Swift.

Donations should be made to El Shaddai.
