THE actions of police are being investigated following a fatal crash in which a 28-year-old teacher from Slough died.

Ahmed Bafadhel, of Alpha Street North, was killed after a collision on the A355 Amersham Road, near Amersham, Bucks on Sunday, July 31.

The teacher at Slough and Eton School was riding his Honda motorbike which was in collision with a second motorbike and a Mercedes car at around 12.20pm.

Ahmed was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but later died of his injuries.

The second motorcyclist who was in collision with the two vehicles as well as a Skoda car, suffered serious leg injures.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has begun an investigation into the actions of the police prior to the collision, as a Thames Valley Police vehicle was at the scene at the time, whilst Hertfordshire Constabulary is conducting a parallel investigation into the collision itself.

IPCC Associate Commissioner Guido Liguori said: “Our thoughts are with everybody affected by this tragic incident which sadly resulted in a young man losing his life. We have met with the man’s family to explain our role.

“We encourage anyone who may have witnessed the incident and has not already come forward to do so as soon as possible.”

Tributes were paid to Ahmed, also vice chairman of trustees at Slough-based charity Aik Saath, who was described as a "magnificent" teacher who was "always smiling".

A post-mortem examination has taken place, with the cause of death established as multiple injuries. An inquest into the death has been opened and adjourned.
